Julian is Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder at Civic, the team of system thinkers creating positive impact for people, place and the planet, whose projects include Mayfield Manchester, Eden New Bailey and Liverpool Waters.

With more than thirty years’ experience as a chartered structural and civil engineer, Julian has worked on the design of acclaimed buildings and structures of many types. Passionate about material reuse and timber construction, Julian champions a ‘Retrofirst’ approach and plays a key role in advancing climate-sensitive, low-carbon design through industry leadership and innovation. He is a member of Manchester Climate Ready and led the partnership’s Net Zero New Buildings City Challenge Group.
